  “Registration” is one of the subtitles under our website. We have a change this year with new members. All new members will pay regular dues and receive a free broom from the club. A new member is someone who has not curled the past 2 seasons. We have dropped first year Students being free. All League Students will pay $10 membership dues. We have done this for simplification purposes.
  Team Captains:
Chuck Reynolds has sent out a letter to all Team Captains from last year. He would like to receive all member and sponsor dues by December 8, 2005 . Make sure to get your Sponsors lined up now. All members who would like to form a new team please contact Chuck Reynolds at 847-6888. He will contact the League coordinator for the night suggested.
  Season Begins:
Curling begins November 29, 30, and December 1, 2005 for all three leagues. We will begin making ice by November 1 st. This is a two week process, come out and help or just watch how it is done.
  Monday Night League:
The mixed couple's league, begins on Monday December 26th, @ 6:30 p.m. with a first night of registration, organization and fun.  Monday Night League play will begin the following Monday, January 2nd.  The Monday League will be limited to the first 10 teams who confirm with Monday League Captain-Dale Westley by e-mail, phone, fax, mail or in-person.  (Monday Night Teams from last year will be given the first right of refusal).  New teams are encouraged to contact Dale now, to be added to a list in the order they confirm. Like last year, the limit will be 9 or 10 teams, where we will establish "bye" weeks, with only 8 teams playing each week, beginning at 6:30 pm , followed by socializing and refreshments.  It is suggested that each team have at least four regular members and also two subs, but there must be at least two females per team.

  Meetings:
Next Board Meeting is scheduled for October 25, 2005 at 7pm. Anyone with concerns or ideas please bring before the Board. Either come in person or contact one of our Board members. Our Board members are listed under “Board” as a subtitle on our website, click on the 2005 -2006 Officers and Board.

  Open Curling and Community Ed Classes:
Community Ed Classes on Curling will be offered this year on Tuesday & Thursday, November 15 & 17 beginning at 7 pm each night, enroll by contacting the DL Community Ed Office at 847-4418. Open curling will be available the weekend of the 19 th of November. If you would like to practice curling during Thanksgiving weekend, please let someone from our Board know.
  Curling Supplies:
Let us know what you nned and we can order it for you. We will have brooms and sliders available for sale. Contact Ron Windloss at 847-2849.
  Minnesota Senior's Men's Bonspiel:
Senior’s Men’s Bonspiel: Looking for Curlers 50 years old or older for the Senior Men’s Bonspiel in St. Paul , January 13-15, 2006 . We would like to have 3-4 teams representing Detroit Lakes . Contact Chuck Reynolds if interested, 847-6888.
Curling Tip:
Curling is a game of skill and traditions. A shot well executed is a delight to see and so, too, it is a fine thing to observe the time-honored traditions of curling being applied in the true spirit of the game. Curlers play to win but never to humble their opponents. A true curler would prefer to lose rather than win unfairly. The spirit of the game demands good sportsmanship, kindly feeling and honorable conduct. Taken from the USA Curling Association Brochure “Spirit fair play.”
